About this Event

The Induction Ceremony will be held at the Terrace at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403.

Doors will open at 5:00pm. A cocktail reception (cash bar) will begin at 5:45pm, followed by the banquet and Induction Ceremony beginning at 6:30pm.

The 2026 NC Swim Hall of Fame Honorees are:

Joel Black

Has officiated swimming for YMCA, NCAA, North Carolina Swimming, and USA Swimming for decades, including 22 YMCA National Championships and 5 U.S. Olympic Trials.
As an NCAA Official, Joel served as an Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming Championships official for 27 years, beginning as a Stroke & Turn Judge and Starter for the first 16 years, then Assistant Referee for 2 years, and finally Meet Referee for 10 years from 2007 to 2017. He also served as Assistant Meet Referee for 3 NCAA D-I Men’s Championships from 2001 to 2013
Served in numerous leadership roles, including 6 years as YMCA National Officials Chair and 16 years as Chair of the NC Swimming Officials Committee.
Received major honors including the YMCA Connie Carroll Award, Joseph R. Rogers Award, and USA Swimming Ken Pettigrew Award for outstanding officiating and service.

Rich DeSelm

Standout swimmer at UNC from 1974–78; three-time UNC Most Valuable Swimmer, NCAA All-American, team co-captain, and school-record holder in five events.
Coached at UNC, Davidson, and Florida, leading Davidson to seven Southern Conference championships and earning five Conference Coach of the Year awards.
As UNC head coach from 2007–19, coached 58 NCAA All-Americans and 26 ACC Champions, with multiple NCAA Top-20 finishes.
Has held major Team USA international coaching and management roles, including Head Coach of the 2011 U.S. World University Games Team in Shenzhen.

Stephanie Peacock

Standout swimmer at UNC who earned ACC Freshman of the Year and later ACC Swimmer of the Year honors.
Won the NCAA Championship in the 1650 Freestyle, breaking Janet Evans' 22-year-old record, and earned All-American honors in the 500 and 1650 Freestyles.
Competed in three World University Games, winning gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, including the 2013 1500 Freestyle championship and WUG record.
Inducted into UNC's Swimming & Diving Champions Circle in 2016.

Brooks Teal

Began his swimming career in Tarboro and later walked on at NC State before transitioning into coaching.
Coached at the YMCA of Raleigh, helping develop eventual NCAA Champion, Olympic gold medalist, and world-record holder David Fox.
Led James Madison to six consecutive Colonial Athletic Association championships and three ECAC championships.
Served as NC State's men's head coach from 2000–11, coaching national champions Cullen Jones and Kristen Davies.

Patty Waldron

UNC swimmer from 1981–84 who received the Hill Carrow Spirit Award three consecutive years, a record among UNC women's swimmers.
Has spent more than 40 years coaching swimmers at virtually every level, including age-group, Masters, club, and high school programs.
Led Charlotte Latin teams to 22 conference championships and 9 independent high school state championships.
Volunteer Director for Swim Across America–Charlotte, helping raise more than $1 million for a local children's hospital.
