About this Event
NORFest 2026 will take place Tuesday 17 November at the Royal Irish Academy. This one-day event will bring the Open Research community together to mark the progress made against the National Action Plan for Open Research, and discuss plans for moving forward and achieving the goals outlined in the Action Plan. Building on discussions from previous NORFest events, the event will celebrate the achievements of the Open Research Community to date.
NORFest 2026 will include an externally facilitated workshop to discuss the forthcoming National Action Plan Review (2022-2025), and attendees will also be among the first to see the launch of the forthcoming Open Research Monitor Ireland, which will be officially launched at the event. These discussions will inform the next iteration of the Plan, ensuring continuity of effort, sustainability of successful initiatives and alignment with evolving European and global open research developments.
This year’s National Open Research Festival (NORFest) is organised by the Irish Research eLibrary (IReL) and the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) with support from the Royal Irish Academy (RIA). Funding for the event was provided by the Higher Education Authority (HEA). The event will also mark the governance transfer of NORF from DRI (2020-2026) to its new host IReL.
