Join us for the book launch of the new memoir Nora Cummings, Enn pchit fee Michif: A Life and Legacy, co-authored by trailblazing Métis activist and leader Nora Cummings and Métis historian Cheryl Troupe. This powerful book chronicles Nora’s lifelong resistance against settler colonial oppression, which led her from the road allowance where she was born, to grassroots activism in the 60s within her urban Métis community in Saskatoon, to becoming an advocate on the national scene in the 70s and 80s. This event will take place in the travel alcove and as a simultaneous YouTube livestream.Born and raised in Saskatoon, Nora Cummings is a respected Métis leader who helped found Gabriel Dumont Local #11 and the Saskatchewan Native Women’s Association. She is a lifelong advocate for Métis women, children, and families and remains active in her community.
Cheryl Troupe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan. She has a PhD in History and an MA in Indigenous Studies. Cheryl Troupe is Metis from north-central Saskatchewan.
