Witness the mystical world of Amir Khusrau like never before as Kathak dancer and choreographer Rashmi Uppal brings his verses of love, longing and devotion to life through dance, music and expressive storytelling.
Conceptualised and choreographed by Rashmi Uppal, ‘Noor-e-Khusrau’ celebrates the spiritual and creative brilliance of Amir Khusrau, often hailed as the father of Qawwali. Through intricate footwork, dynamic spins and soulful abhinaya, the choreography gives physical form to the emotions within his verses, while qawwali, tarana and traditional instrumentation deepen the experience.
Tabla player Mohit Chouhan, pakhawaj player Aishvary Arya, sarangi player Amiruddin Ji, vocalist and harmonium player Rajendra Mewal, and qawwali vocalist Tanveer Sabri of the Sabri Brothers group come together in a live ensemble, creating an evocative musical setting for Khusrau’s work.
At the heart of the performance is the noor of Khusrau’s poetry – the light of a timeless body of work that continues to speak of love as a path to the divine – expressed through the rich vocabulary of Kathak.
