About this Event
The book examines the violent transformation from feudalism to capitalism. Federici shows how this new order was built by turning women's bodies into a resource to be controlled, burning "witches" and making the unpaid labour of care and reproduction invisible. At the same time, the colonisation of the Americas crushed Indigenous societies and forced them into a new class structure, but women were at the heart of the resistance and rebellions that followed.
What to Expect: This is not a space for perfect interpretations or polished opinions. We gather to: speak our minds, vent or simply listen, connect history with the present and with our own lives, ask difficult questions about power, labour and privilege, sit with complexity, and even discomfort, and leave with a broader view
No theory background needed, this is a space to learn together and you're welcome even if you've only read a few chapters!
Please note this event is FLINTA* Only
