About this Event
Each November, movie fans celebrate the hallmark antiheroes, femme fatales, moral complexities, and the stunning black & white cinematography of film noir. Free popcorn will be served, and a discussion will follow each screening.
In The Killers (Robert Siodmak, 1946) , an insurance investigator pieces together the tragic life of an ex-boxer named "the Swede," revealing how he was drawn into the underworld.
An intense, hard-edged noir tale of robbery, unrequited love, and brutal betrayal. The sharply-written script from screenwriters Anthony Veiller and collaborator John Huston (uncredited) was loosely based on Ernest Hemingway's 1927 short story of the same name and provided a breakthrough role for Burt Lancaster.
