You don’t need to solder to transform plain metal into a pair of earrings filled with shape, texture, and personality.In our No Solder Earrings with Textured Metal class, you’ll make your own earring components using several approachable metalsmithing techniques. You’ll add patterns with design stamps, create textured metal with the rolling mill, cut shapes with the disc cutter, and form dimension using the dapping block.
By combining these different techniques, you’ll turn your handmade components into a finished pair of textured metal earrings—all without soldering.
This is a beginner-level class, making it a welcoming way to explore metal jewelry and become more familiar with the tools used to shape and texture it.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience. She’ll guide you step by step as you create the individual parts of your earrings and bring them together into a finished design.
