Explore 'No Refusal', a photographic exhibition by publisher, novelist and photographer Ananth Padmanabhan, tracing his longstanding connection with Calcutta.
Drawing on a personal connection with the city that began in 1998, Ananth captures its streets, everyday scenes and changing urban landscape. At the heart of the exhibition are the city's iconic yellow Ambassador taxis, once a familiar presence on its roads, which are gradually disappearing. Through these photographs, he documents their changing place in the city and the memories they hold for generations of residents and visitors. The exhibition reflects on how everyday sights become part of a city’s identity and how photography can preserve fragments of a familiar world as it changes.
