NO MORE SUDANESE BLOOD FOR UAE GOLD.
Thursday, 29 October 12:30pm
outside UAE embassy, 119 Featherston St
Hosted by Sudan Advocacy Network Aotearoa
We are joining the global mobilisation to stand against the ongoing Emirati-backed genocide in Sudan, honour the victims of the El-Fasher massacres, and demand justice for the cruelty inflicted on our people through the UAE-backed RSF militia’s violent genocidal campaign.
This event marks one year since the UAE-backed RSF’s assault on El Fasher, Darfur, following more than 500 days of siege, an assault that the UN Fact-Finding Mission said bore the hallmarks of genocide and that made Sudanese blood visible from space.
Five days of extensive mass killings followed the city’s capture. Civilians who had already endured starvation, bombardment, and the denial of humanitarian aid faced mass executions, sexual violence, torture, and enforced disappearances.
SUDANESE BLOOD WAS VISIBLE FROM SPACE
WHERE ARE EL FASHER’S PEOPLE?
An estimated 200,000–250,000 people remained in El Fasher before its capture. In the immediate aftermath, approximately 36,000 were initially recorded as displaced. The whereabouts of vast numbers of people remained unknown. No survivors were visible from space.
WHY WE ARE PROTESTING THE UAE
Emirati financing, arms transfers, logistical support and supply networks continue to K*ll Sudanese people. The RSF’s violence cannot be separated from the support sustaining it. We demand accountability for the UAE’s support for the RSF and the pillaging of Sudan’s resources. This is a war waged on Sudan by the UAE.
New Zealand’s billion-dollar trading relationship with the UAE carries a responsibility to act. We call on the Government to use its influence to demand an end to UAE support for the RSF and protect Sudanese lives.
Sudanese lives must never be the price of gold, commercial profit or geopolitical ambition.
Sudan is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Millions have been displaced, families torn apart, and communities pushed into famine. Political action must match the severity of this catastrophe.
