Join us October 17 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm to stand up for our democracy and our constitution! There’s a sign making party the day of the rally from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at the Kankakee Friends of Labor office, 555 S Schuyler, Kankakee.
PLEASE BE AWARE, this is a busy road, it is extremely important that everyone stay off the curb. There’s parking behind the courthouse.
Before you head out, remember these peaceful protest essentials to keep demonstrations safe and impactful:
💙 Don't engage unless absolutely necessary
💙 If tensions rise, use your voice and not your body
💙 Speak calmly, validate emotions, and stay grounded like a gray rock
💙 Use peaceful gestures only like ✌️ or 🤟
💙 Keep open palms and visible hands
💙 Do not run, it can cause panic
💙 Step back slowly, stay aware of exits, and never box anyone in
Bring these peaceful tools:
💙 American or Pride flags
💙 Signs, banners, or protest art
💙 Costumes (patriotic, inflatable, etc.)
*A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
