Please read and sign this waiver before the ride, once per season is fine!
This is a NO DROP women's ride. That means: no one gets left behind!
We will meet at the Samsara shop and ride for 75-90 min on a party-paced (17-20km/h) or speedy (20-23km/h) route set by our ride leaders, Michaela and Lily. The safety talk starts at 5:30pm and we'll roll out at 5:45pm; please arrive by 5:20pm so that everything can start on time. We will begin at the storefront and tackle two loops of Stanley Park, before heading to a nearby beach (optional) for a social meet & greet (bring your own drinks & snacks).
Prior cycling experience is necessary, however, this ride is meant to help ease riders into becoming more comfortable with group rides. We are here to help and guide those without as much experience!
About our Ride Leaders:
Michaela is a running researcher by day, but by night she's on her bike! As a PhD student on a budget, she has mastered the art of affordable and accessible biking adventures. Michaela also coaches a Women's Intro to Road Biking Clinic, and is passionate about supporting and educating new riders. She is always so happy to build a bigger biking community, especially for minorities.
Kelsi is a scientist by trade, but spends her free time exploring the Lower Mainland on two wheels. After a few years of urban cyclaing and bike commuting, Kelsi got her first road bike in 2024 and never looked back (except to shoulder check). She is excited to be leading group rides with Samsara, and making space for women and gender diverse folks to participate in sport.
Lily has had a passion for cycling for decades; evolving from the iconic 70’s banana seat to the modern day road bike. Having a background in finance, she has quickly mastered the art of bike math: PSI, VO2 max, speed, distance, and most importantly, kudos on Strava. Lily is excited to support and empower folks in the Vancouver women's cycling community!
Shelley was born in South Africa and raised in Canada. She's been biking since her twenties, when she started doing triathlons. She grabs every chance she can get to hit the road for a ride, especially around the North Shore! Her favourite holidays are bike-related, this year going to Norway, and last year Thailand and Japan. Shelley wants to share her love of cycling with other like-minded women and is excited to lead rides for Samsara.
