Learn to navigate with confidence in the Peak District on this two-day NNAS Bronze navigation course for women, based in Hathersage and led by a qualified Mountain Leader.Over two full days you will build real, practical map and compass skills in one of England's most varied and rewarding landscapes. The course covers up to five miles each day at a leisurely pace, with plenty of stops to read the ground against the map and make sense of what is around you. Moorland, valleys, and clear landmarks make the Peak District an ideal place to learn navigation for the first time. Any ascents are taken at the group's pace, and the whole course is designed to feel relaxed and supportive from start to finish.
You will leave with an NNAS Bronze qualification and the confidence to use it on your own walks.
This navigation course for women in the Peak District is open to anyone aged 18 and over who is reasonably fit and happy to be outdoors for a full day. No previous navigation experience is needed.
Led by a qualified NNAS tutor and Mountain Leader with years of experience teaching map reading skills to beginners.
Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th 10am to 4pm each day.
Meeting point: the small square opposite the petrol station on Main Road, Hathersage. Parking on Oddfellows Road (S32 1DU). Hathersage train station is a five minute walk away.
Bring walking boots with good grip, waterproofs, warm layers, a packed lunch, and plenty of water. A map and compass can be borrowed on the day.
Places are limited to six. The course costs £160 per person.
The hills are a lot more welcoming when you know exactly where you are.
