What does the future of string music sound like? Imagining the Future brings together composers from both sides of the Atlantic, from a legend of the string quartet world to the newest generation of Norwegian composers. This concert features the Scandinavian premieres of "Songs of the Earth" for mezzo-soprano and strings, by Eugene Drucker, one of the longtime violinists of the Emerson String Quartet, and Mari Kimura's "Lambent Nishijin", in which motion sensors turn the string quartet's gestures into live electronics. The program also includes works for violin and piano by Danish composer Sophie Meyer and new works by young Norwegian composers from NyMusikk's Composers Group.PROGRAM:
