This cycle of pieces for solo piano alternates themes of stones, clouds, lightning, and mountains, four elements, presented four times each in directional permutation.
Cacie Miller is a Chicago-area pianist. She holds degrees in piano performance and music theory from several institutions, including the Eastman School of Music, University of Illinois, Houghton University and University of Southern Maine. Cacie has participated in solo and chamber festivals in Germany, Puerto Rico, Piedmont, and Chautauqua. She recently premiered several solo and chamber works, including her composition AlteredHome. She curates the Second Sunday Concert Series and maintains a vibrant multi-age studio in her Oak Park home.
Connor Chee (b. 1987) is a Diné (Navajo) composer and pianist known for blending Western classical music with the rich cultural heritage of the Navajo people. His compositions often draw inspiration from traditional Navajo stories and beliefs, creating a powerful and evocative sound that speaks to both his heritage and his classical training. Connor is dedicated to music education and cultural preservation, inspiring the next generation of musicians. Chee made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 12 after winning a gold medal in the World Piano Competition and is a graduate of both the Eastman School of Music and the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Chee’s work has earned him national acclaim, including performances on NPR’s Performance Today and a commission from Your Classical MPR for his tribute to the Navajo Code Talkers, Unbroken.
