About this Event
What haunts us?
This October, Niaflix presents What Haunts Us, a special screening of five horror and thriller shorts by Toronto-based filmmakers:
- The Monster I Made - directed by Julisa Marcel
- A Family Affair - directed by Shanice Bowrin
- Moon Gazer - directed by Yvano Antonio
- Duppy - directed by Andrew Hamilton
- Fresh Meat - written and directed by Lu Asfaha
From the supernatural and the uncanny to folklore, identity, memory and survival, these films explore the stories, fears and experiences that linger long after the credits roll.
What Haunts Us looks at Black horror not simply as a source of scares, but as a space for filmmakers and storytellers to explore what frightens us, what stays with us and what we carry with us.
And at just $5, it’s an easy night out: discover Black cinema, support Toronto filmmakers and experience something you can't quite get from watching at home.
