About this Event
Welcome to the Newcomer Youth Theatre Program community showcase! Join us on Wednesday, December 9th at the Registry Theatre for a night of performance by newcomer youth from Eastwood Collegiate Institute and St. Mary's Highschool, followed by a joint talkback Q&A with the audience.
Come support these young artists as they take the stage and share their experiences in their own words through the power of theatre, with the chance to engage in conversation with the students after the performance!

MT Space
Since 2004, MT Space has maintained a commitment to working with artists from Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and other marginalized and racialized communities. We have challenged the preconceptions of theatre to create, produce, and present work that is accessible and affordable to low income families, while creating a space for marginalized voices to be heard.

About the Newcomer Youth Theatre Program
The Newcomer Youth Theatre Project is an after-school program facilitated by MT Space in partnership with YMCA of Three Rivers for high school aged newcomers in Waterloo Region.
This free program offers introductions to multi-disciplinary arts education in a welcoming environment, guided by local arts professionals and leaders, and caps off with performances showcasing the youth’s creative work.
By developing skills in performing arts, leadership, language, and collaboration, the youth work together to explore their own artistic voices while developing the skills and confidence to tell their own stories, and build community.
Accessibility information
The main lobby and entrance to the theatre has several steps for entry. Patrons requiring elevator access can proceed around the side of the building that faces the old police station. While there is a call button, we recommend letting us know of your arrival in advance via phone or email so we can have staff assist with the elevator.
You can also email us with any other accommodation requests at [email protected].
Primary Parking Options
For the most convenient access, we recommend the Region of Waterloo lot located directly next to the theatre (look for the gated entrance). On weekends and weekday evenings starting at 5:00 PM, this lot becomes open to the public. While the gate lowers at 11:00 PM, you can still exit after hours by driving slowly toward the gate, which will trigger it to raise automatically.
Alternatively, free street parking is often available directly across from the theatre on Spetz and Scott streets. Please note that the theatre’s private laneway is strictly reserved for theatre personnel, artists, and renters.
