Further details:
For electricals and electronics: Please ensure that you bring any batteries, chargers, ancillary leads, power supplies, speakers, etc. to enable us to fully test the faulty item. If you are bringing a media player of some type, please bring a cassette/CD/record so that we can test it's working. For safety reasons, all mains-powered items must be PAT tested before any repair can take place, and again afterwards, even if the item has not been fixed.
If you have clothing that needs new buttons, zips, or fastenings, please bring those with you for our repairers to use. As we have limited time available, we will not be able to replace any long zips, e.g. for coats, jackets, or anoraks.
You will initially be able to check in one item only (except for sharpening - 3 items). It should be clean and small/light enough for one person to carry. Sorry, we cannot repair microwaves, petrol-driven items, or gas appliances for safety reasons. Even if something can’t be repaired on the spot, we may be able to advise on parts to buy, or how to repair at home. Depending on demand, you may be able to rejoin the queue with a second item if time allows.
Note: no dogs (other than assistance dogs) will be allowed into the hall.
Wondering if your item can be repaired? Please email us at [email protected] with the make and model if applicable, and what needs repairing. Photos can sometimes help.
Have a look at the photo albums from our previous events to see the wide variety of items we have repaired so far. In the time that we've been operating, we have assessed over 2000 items and saved more than 1700 of them from going to landfill. That's over 4000kg rescued from waste processing!
Looking forward to seeing you at Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, RG18 4QH on Sunday 25th October 2-4:30 p.m.
