About this Event
The newly formed Forest Expansion Network (FEN) in New York is hosting a one-day summit for professionals to learn, collaborate, and network with each other. If you are currently establishing forests in New York and beyond, or you are planning to start, this summit is for you.
The Forest Expansion Network's Annual Summit will take place on Tuesday, December 15 in Syracuse, NY. Partners will have the opportunity to come together to discuss common challenges and share their stories and ideas. People of all experience levels are encouraged to attend and bring lessons back to your community. To register, fill out this short form by Friday, November 13 to reserve your space (registration is free, but is limited to first 80 registrants). We're excited to learn from you and hear about your interests for expanding forests in New York.
FEN is a joint collaborative of several regional entities, nonprofits, and state agencies. Members of the FEN Steering Committee hail from The Nature Conservancy, Trust for Public Land, Jefferson County Soil and Water, Upper Susquehanna Coalition, Cornell Cooperative Extension - Onondaga County, Central New York Land Trust, Swiftwater Organic Farmstead, NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. By attending the summit, you will be helping shape FEN and future efforts for reforestation in New York.
Vision of the Forest Expansion Network:
As the Forest Expansion Network, we envision a strategic and effective forest establishment movement in New York state that helps to maximize social and environmental benefits by meeting a range of goals. To help build this movement, we further envision a well-coordinated, adequately supported, and inclusive alliance of partners and leaders that work together to address regional and statewide forest establishment needs at every stage, from funding identification to maintenance. We believe that collaboration and coordination will accelerate forest establishment in New York state, elevate our collective voice, and enable more people, communities, and organizations to benefit from nature-based solutions.
[Please contact us directly if travel costs will prevent you from attending and we will explore options to reduce that burden or if you would like to attend and missed the registration window]
