Evansville Philharmonic’s first New Traditions Series of the 2026-2027 Season will be held at The Commons, located at 315 N Main St, in Evansville on Thursday, October 1 at 6:00 PM. The concert is free and open to the public.The New Traditions Series shines a spotlight on music by underrepresented composers, expanding awareness of the diverse voices and perspectives that continue to shape classical music. This special evening features the Eykamp String Quartet, performing in an intimate and distinctive community setting.
The Eykamp String Quartet features Evansville Philharmonic principal string musicians Jack Bogard, Violin I; Michael Chu, Violin II; Mark Hatlestad, Viola; and Graham Cullen, Cello.
A highlight of the evening will be the performance of “Bacheh Golam,” the winning composition from the Evansville Philharmonic’s inaugural Young Composers Competition, written by composer Austin Ali.
Hailing from Texas and now based in Los Angeles, Austin Ali (b. 1997) is a composer, trumpeter and arranger whose music brings together jazz, contemporary classical and transcultural influences.
