Join us for New Arrivals, a joint poetry reading and book launch at ASEEES 2026 in Chicago! The reading will take place on Thursday, November 12th, at 7.30 pm, in the Palmer House (Chicago; 3d floor, salon 3).We are poets writing in Russian who have found ourselves in the US at different points in our lives. Сonnected by academic careers, forced emigration, and long friendships, our group came together at a poetry reading last year in Washington, D.C. Our continuing collaboration resulted in a series of eight books, published by Ulbandus.
The reading will serve as the official launch of this series, with each poet— Yuliya Charnyshova, Alla Gutnikova, Liza Kheresh, Tatiana Krasilnikova, Maria Malinovskaya, Lev Oborin, Nadia Vikulina, and Gleb Simonov—presenting their work alongside their newly published volume. We invite the Slavic studies community to celebrate these publications and engage with a literary moment that is still actively taking shape.
