Have you ever wanted to learn about our natural resources but don't have the time to fully participate in the NV Naturalist Program? Well now you have the opportunity to participate via our Zoom lecture series!
You'll have an opportunity to hear the same, sometimes thought-provoking, but always engaging, lectures that are presented to the NV Naturalist students. Never pre-recorded, they are live lectures between 1-3 hours long, that are being presented with Q&A sessions immediately following! And best of all they are all online via Zoom!
These lectures occur on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm - 9pm beginning on Monday October 19th thru Monday November 16th.
Some of the topics being covered this fall include:
Southern Nevada Pollinators - What do Pollinators do in the fall? Focusing exclusively on our native bees and monarch butterflies.
An introduction into the soil found in southern NV. What are it's components, what lives in it? How our soil determines what lives and grows here.
Fall Migrating Birds - a cascade of birds commonly seen in the Las Vegas valley during the fall. Information will be provided on how to identify specific species.
Invasive plants - a discussion on what makes a plant invasive, a detailed description of some of our most common invasives found here and what makes them so detrimental to the environment.
Conservation Biology - a thought-provoking lecture on the role that hunting plays in conservation will be examined.
