About this Event
NEPA is entering a new era. Since 1970, the National Environmental Policy Act has shaped how federal agencies evaluate environmental impacts and incorporate public input into major decisions. Over the decades, however, the NEPA process has grown increasingly complex, leading policymakers and practitioners to seek ways to make environmental reviews more timely, effective, and responsive to changing national priorities.
Recent administrations have introduced significant changes to NEPA policy and implementation, and the landscape continues to evolve. What do these changes mean for environmental professionals, engineers, project proponents, and federal agencies, and how can practitioners successfully navigate NEPA in this changing environment?
The program will begin with “NEPA Made Easy,” an interactive workshop designed to provide practical insight into the NEPA process, with PDH certifications available. Following networking and dinner, Peyton Daub, a senior Environmental Scientist with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and NEPA practitioner since 1989, will present the keynote, “NEPA: Past, Present, and Future.” Peyton will trace major changes to NEPA over the past 15 years and explore where the process may be headed next, including the evolving balance among efficient project delivery, economic development, environmental stewardship, and meaningful public engagement, as well as the growing role of new technologies and information tools.
