Inspired by the soul-stirring sounds of artists like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Maxwell, Lauryn Hill, and Bilal, this isn't your typical candle-making class. It's a space to unwind, connect, laugh, reflect, and experience authentic conversations with great people.
Your evening begins by creating your own signature fragrance and pouring a 4oz 100% Soy Massage Oil Candle. While your candle cures, the music turns up and the conversations begin.
Guests can choose a pre-written relationship scenario—or anonymously write one of their own. No names. No judgment. Just honest conversations and different perspectives. A color is drawn before each discussion, encouraging participants to think beyond their own point of view and engage in thoughtful, respectful dialogue.
Whether you're single, dating, married, or simply enjoy great conversation, you'll leave with more than a handcrafted candle—you'll leave with new perspectives, meaningful connections, and memories that last long after the wax has cooled.

All of our classes are FINAL SALE. We also require all participants (in your party or group) to arrive on time. Doors open 30 minutes before your scheduled workshop. Please arrive early. We are VERY FIRM on this policy. You will have to reschedule if you arrive late. Please do not disrupt the vibe and try to enter the studio if you are late.
There is NO GRACE period for this event. We do not offer refunds for late participants. We do offer class credits. You will have an entire calendar year to reschedule your experience. If Above Average Studio cancels your class for any reason, we will offer you a discount to reschedule or a full refund. In the event of a cancellation, we will contact you via phone/email/text - Please keep in mind that we do NOT ANSWER calls during class sessions. We're celebrating our 5th year in Business! Our cozy, vibe worthy and carefully curated garden level studio can host up to 30 people per session. To date we have hosted over 20K people since opening in early 2021.
The space has an art section (Showcasing Art from A Printed Soul), candle art (Showcasing Pastry Candles from Sweet Dreams Candle Co.) and Handmade Vegan Body Care (Above Average Vegan Body Care) that can be custom scented with your newly created signature fragrance. We also offer exclusive in studio only offers (VIP Class Pass Deal) and tons of photo ops. Don't leave without signing our Candle Makers Wall of Fame!
