Great things happen when neighbours come together, and we'd love you to be part of an exciting new idea for our area. Thanks to a recent change in federal legislation, community foundations can now offer tax-deductible status for donations. Community foundations are already thriving in neighbourhoods right across the country, supporting local projects, people and programs that make a real difference.
We've done the groundwork on what it takes to establish a community foundation here, and now we want to hear from you. This meeting is a chance to gauge community interest and, if there's enough enthusiasm, take the first steps towards forming an inaugural board.
The Neighbourhood Foundation is a community-led initiative. The Pear is helping get it started.
Together we'll explore four key questions:
1. What should the Foundation's purpose be?
2. What area should it cover?
3. Would you be willing to make a small donation towards set-up costs?
4. Who would like to put their hand up for the inaugural board, and how should members be chosen?
Whether you're ready to roll up your sleeves or simply curious to learn more, you're warmly invited.
