About this Event
Breda’s work captures the essence of Irish landscapes and the Wild Atlantic Way.
Working from reference photographs or your own imagination, Breda will show you how to find inspiration, plan a piece, then build up layers using fine merino wool and adding embellishments.
All the supplies you need will be provided.
At the end you’ll take home your own unique piece of textile art.

About Breda
Growing up, summer holidays were spent at her parents' childhood homes of Achill Island, Co Mayo and Teelin, Co Donegal, Atlantic shores are in her blood. In Donegal she was surrounded by the rich culture of the homespun wool industry and loved the sound of knitting needles clacking as her grandmother and aunts sat by the range knitting and chatting.
Sometimes there was the added excitement of visiting a noisy weaving shed at the back of a house, where Donegal tweed was woven by the men, it was mesmerizing to watch. The car was always filled with woolly delights heading back home to Meath - Aran wool, tweed and báinín fabric and the thoughts of what her mother might create over the long winter evenings ahead. A love of handmade was born and a lifelong appreciation for the feel and handle of natural fibres.
