About this Event
Craftivism comes from two words: craft and activism. The term was first coined by American Betsy Greer, a graduate of Goldsmith’s College in London. In her words,
she makes ‘tiny things with big feelings’.
We start with a screening of a BBC documentary on Craftivism to give you an idea of how some people have chosen to interpret it. We’ll then have a discussion about what it means to you and the kinds of things you would like to bring attention to.
Join us afterwards at our Craftivist table where we invite you to help us support the Pachamama Project. We are proud to have the Pachamama Project as one of our charity partners. They have a network of volunteers who make reusable sanitary pads for women in crisis areas, including Gaza.
The project uses a set design in order to ensure quality control and you can help us to cut out and sew the pieces needed from a template.
Each woman receives eight re-usable pads which will last them for an average of five years. https://www.thepachamamaproject.org/
