Yorkshire textile artist Jessica Jenyns returns with a Winter themed version of her inspirational needle crafting 'Wearable Art' workshop. Get ready for a new take on the ubiquitous Christmas jumper and toasty warm winter woollies. Jessica shares her passion for creating wearable art, using needle felting to breathe new life into pre-loved jumpers and knitted accessories. We think you'll be as impressed with yourself as were have been with the creations previous participants have produced - even with no previous experience.
During this hands-on workshop you will learn how to needle-felt your design onto your garment, with easy to follow instructions to finish/fix your project at home.
For your design, you don’t have to have an idea before you come along. Jessica is full of inspired ideas. However, if you do have a specific design in mind, brilliant! Don’t get too carried away, though, as larger designs do take a very long time to complete.
Apart from the pre-loved knitwear you bring along, materials and equipment are provided. For needle felting, Jessica uses carded sheep wool or bamboo/flax from recycled sources as well as making it herself from second-hand textiles.
Each participant also receives a 10% discount voucher via email after the class has been held to use online towards a future class.
Access notice: there are two steps up into our building at 3 Church Street, Ilkley LS29 9DR. We sincerely apologise if this prevents anyone from attending our workshops.
