About this Event
Neechie Run club is a land based, indigenous led and community centred run club.
This is a run club for indigenous people and allies to nurture a meaningful and reciprocal relationship with each other and the land, through movement.
We have 3 paces
Skoden (fast paced) 6 km
This is for the runners looking to push themselves and build strength body, mind, spirit and emotion.
Easy (yap) pace 5 km
This is for the runner who’s just here to connect and share stories, or who may be beginning their relationship with running.
Walk (cackle) 2.5 km
This is for anyone who’s looking to just get out on the land, crack jokes and move their body in a gentle way in a supportive community setting.
All pace groups will be led by two neechie club leads so no neechie gets left behind! Here at neechie club we are land based not performance based so we aim to create an accessible and inclusive environment to meet you where you’re at and create a space for you to connect to yourself, the land and each other in a reciprocal way.
Each run begins with a land acknowledgment from our Musqueam Youth Lead, a brief land based meditation and tobacco offering from our founder Sarah Anne Tourond and a warm up. We'll end at batch where you have the option to stay and take part in more yaps and cackles.
