FishPass - A vision for selective fish passage and invasive species managementJoin the Grand Traverse Chapter for an informative meeting about reconnecting and protecting 170+ miles of rivers in NW Michigan as they flow to Lake Michigan!
Great Lakes Fishery Commission and multiple partners developed an approach for selective fish passage —passing desirable species while blocking undesirable species— in the Boardman-Ottaway River. FishPass, an adaptive fish-sorting facility, is the capstone of ~20 years restoration of the Boardman (Ottaway) River, Traverse City. This facility aims to restore connectivity in rivers fragmented by barriers while managing undesirable and invasive species. In this talk, Dan Zielinski will share the concept and design for the FishPass project, plus some ongoing research in and around the Laurentian Great Lakes.
