Learn the magical process of sun-printing images of botanicals and plants using the cyanotype printing process. We'll gather leaves and natural elements from the grounds at Central Midtown to create stunning nature prints in vibrant Prussian blue.
The workshop will be led by Bryant Galloway Whelan. Bryant is inspired by the intrinsic beauty of forms in nature. She delights in using experimental techniques in her artwork to portray the flora, leaves, seed pods and seaweed she gathers on her coastal forages and nature walks. Whelan received her Bachelor of fine Art from Auburn University and has received numerous awards for her work.
This morning workshop (10 am - Noon) will be Session 1 of two nature printing workshops. There will be a follow-on Session 2 workshop beginning at 1:00 pm which will explore Solar Fast Nature Printing.
Students may take either course or both. The cyanotype course is not a "prerequisite" but will be helpful in the 2nd session.
All supplies will be provided. Limit of 8 students per class.
No sunshine? No worries! We will use UV lights as a back-up to use indoors if necessary to mimic sunshine and process the prints.
