Nature at McMaster x iSci Society x RBG Invasive Species Removal

Join us in our restoration efforts to improve the environment connecting McMaster and RBG!

Our local ecosystems are under threat from non-native plant species that disrupt habitats and outcompete our native flora, negatively impacting wildlife. Guided by our knowledgeable team, you'll learn how to identify and safely remove these disruptive species, making a tangible difference in preserving our local biodiversity.

Event Details:

• Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026

• Time: 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

• Meeting Location: Miller's Grove (located on campus beside the ALTITUDE Compound by Parking Lot H). We will be working around Ravine Road Trail, behind the ALTITUDE Compound (see map for details). There is paid parking available, but we encourage attendees to use other forms of transit when possible.

Bring/Wear:

• Comfortable, closed-toe, durable shoes (mud-proof if you have any)

• Long pants and long socks

• Ensure you wear clothing and shoes that you will not mind getting dirty

• Water bottles

• Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses

• Bug spray

Accessibility Notes:

• We will be working in muddy, uneven terrain with some small slopes.

• Removing invasive plants can be physically demanding. Make sure to take breaks.

• If you are unsure how to use any of the tools provided, please ask any Nature at McMaster staff in attendance and we would be happy to assist you.

• If you feel unwell at any point during the event, please inform a Nature at McMaster staff member immediately.
