What You Will Learn in This Field Masterclass
Photographing fast-moving wildlife in natural light requires precision. This hands-on outdoor session covers:
- Action & Motion Control: Mastering fast shutter speeds, continuous autofocus (AF-C/Al Servo), and burst mode settings to capture birds in flight.
- Exposure in Deep Shadows: How to balance tricky canopy lighting, use spot metering, and avoid overexposing bright plumage.
- Composition & Background Separation: Using wide apertures to create beautiful, creamy background blur (bokeh) that makes the subject pop.
- Field Ethics & Tracking: Practical advice from Sumit on how to approach local birds quietly without causing distress or disturbing their habitat.
Who Should Join This Photography Course?
This workshop is custom-tailored for:
- Beginners who want to step away from "Auto Mode" and master their DSLR or Mirrorless camera manual controls.
- Hobbyists looking to sharpen their compositional eye and capture the beauty of nature.
- Mobile Photographers who want to learn how to shoot high-quality frames using just a smartphone.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Do I need a massive 600mm telephoto lens to attend this course?
- A: While a telephoto lens (70-300mm, 150-600mm, or equivalent zoom) is highly recommended for wildlife, beginners with basic kit lenses or high-zoom bridge cameras will still learn essential framing, tracking, and manual exposure techniques.
Q: What species of birds can we expect to spot at Vetal Tekdi?
- A: Depending on the exact morning activity, Vetal Tekdi is home to Peafowl, Indian White-eyes, Purple Sunbirds, Coppersmith Barbets, and various migratory raptors during the cooler months.
Q: Can I attend if I only shoot with a smartphone?
- A: This specific workshop heavily relies on focal length to capture distant subjects. If you are a mobile photographer, we highly recommend booking our Street Photography Workshop at Mandai Market instead, which is perfectly optimized for smartphone lenses.
