Ottawa residents have a rare free reason to look up these evenings. The National Arts Centre is hosting a guided night-sky observation on its Wood Terrace at 8:30 p.m., with astronomers from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s Ottawa Centre leading the experience.
If weather and sky conditions cooperate, visitors will have the chance to see Saturn through a telescope while learning how astronomers read the night sky from an urban setting.
No ticket is required, and the event is free.
If conditions are poor on October 7, organizers have scheduled a rain date for October 8, and tentatively October 13 and October 14.
Seeing Saturn with your own eyes from the heart of Ottawa sounds like the kind of simple experience people remember for years.
Would you line up for a free look through the telescope?
