Join us for National Seniors Day as we celebrate older adults in our community with a catered brunch, drop-in social activities, a free chair yoga session, and a special VOWR Tribute performance from the Arts and Aging Network. The "Music of Your Life: VOWR Tribute Show is being offered through the Arts and Aging Network and is being offered as a public performance. The Music of Your Life is a joyful, 60-minute theatrical performance inspired by the 100+ year legacy of VOWR radio — a station beloved across Newfoundland and Labrador. Blending fictional storytelling with true memories, familiar songs, and heartwarming humour, the show honours the voices and music that shaped generations. Whether you're a lifelong VOWR listener or hearing these tunes for the first time, you're invited to sing along, tap your toes, and share in the joy! After the show, our actors stay to chat with audience members, creating personal moments of engagement and reflection. All performers are professional actors who have completed our Arts and Aging Approach training, including dementia sensitivity and engagement strategies, ensuring the experience is not only joyful but also inclusive and thoughtful.
Registration is only required for brunch and chair yoga and opens on September 10 at 9:00 a.m. on the Town's Recreation Portal. The VOWR tribute and Move, Play, and Connect Zone are drop-in and on a first-come, first-served basis.
