The Friends of Chester Woods will host a day of collecting prairie seeds and planting native wildflowers. This is a golden opportunity to learn about prairie plants and seed collection while spending time immersed in nature. This free event will be held at Chester Woods Park and led by volunteers who are knowledgeable about native plants. Who: Families with children over 8 years old, adults interested in nature.
When: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, 9 AM – 3 PM (okay to do a half day).
Meet at Chester Woods Park office, 8378 Hwy 14 E Eyota, MN 55934.
Registration required: email Patty Trnka at [email protected] by Sept. 18.
Registration is limited to 25 participants.
Free lunch of sandwiches, chips, and cookies will be provided by the Friends for registered participants.
What to bring: Water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Seed collection equipment will be provided.
Wear: Long pants, closed-toed sturdy shoes for uneven terrain, gloves, and a hat.
