The National Conference on Mental Health, Physical Activity and Sport 2026 will bring together stakeholders from sport, health, education, research, government, civil society and the private sector to strengthen the systems that support people through physical activity and sport.Under the theme “Investing in People, Institutions and Systems to Shape the Future of Mental Health, Physical Activity and Sport Ecosystems,” the conference will explore how investment in people, evidence, institutions and partnerships can create healthier, safer and more inclusive sporting environments.
A particular focus will be placed on the pathway from play to participation and from grassroots to elite sport. For children and young people, play and physical activity can provide opportunities for movement, social connection, learning, confidence and belonging. As young people progress through sport, their mental health and wellbeing must remain part of the pathway alongside talent and performance.
Discussions will bring together perspectives on mental health, physical activity, safe sport, athlete welfare, disability and gender inclusion, education, research, governance, financing and sustainable delivery.
The conference will provide a platform for athletes, coaches, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, universities, sports organisations, young people and development partners to exchange evidence, experiences and practical approaches.
