About this Event
Coming out can be a life-changing experience at any age and at any point in life. It can mean sharing who you are, finding your people, or choosing to show up more fully for yourself and others.
Join us on National Coming Out Day at the QUEERSPACE Youth Center for an Open Mic and the opening of the QUEERSPACE Youth Art Gallery. Youth and adults will share their coming out stories during an afternoon of intergenerational storytelling. You’ll also have the chance to explore artwork created by QUEERSPACE youth participants, centering their lived experiences as Queer and Trans young people.
What does coming out mean to you?
Maybe it was one conversation, a series of small moments, or a decision to live more openly on your own terms. We invite youth and adults to share a story about finding their voice, showing up as themselves, or finding belonging along the way.
Participation is not required! You’re welcome to share your story (or simply listen!!) and explore the gallery amongst the community. Wherever you are in your journey, you belong here.
Coffee, nonalcoholic beverages, and snacks will be provided.
Event Schedule:
1:00PM-1:30PM | Community Connection & Gallery viewing: Settle in with a beverage and light snacks. Explore the Youth Art Gallery, meet new people, and join casual conversations.
1:30PM-3:45PM | Open Mic & Storytelling: A facilitated Open Mic where attendees can share the journey of their coming out. Your story could help someone else feel less alone.
