About this Event
Harvest Home is Naiad’s celebration of the harvest season, the people who grow and make things here, and the turn towards winter on the Blue Hill Peninsula.
The name comes from an old-world tradition: when the last of the harvest was finally brought home, the work gave way to a feast — food and ale, music, dancing and a gathering of the community. Our Harvest Home takes that idea and plants it here.
Join us at Mainescape Garden Center for a full day of local farms and makers, food, beer, music, plants and the kickoff of the Blue Hill Winter Farmers Market.
Throughout the property you’ll find local farms, food producers, artists and craftspeople. Zodi Brooms, Lindenleaf Farm, Barncastle, Naiad Garden Truck, Hot Freshies, and many more will be slinging their wares, serving up hot food and celebrating with us. We’ll be pouring special Naiad offerings alongside guest beers from friends around Maine, including Allagash, Mast Landing, Island Park Brewing, Absolem Cider and others.
Mainescape will be open throughout the celebration with fall plants, garden goods, seasonal specials and discounts, with our friends from Coast of Maine Organic Soils joining us for the day as well.
Come wander among the plants. Fill a market bag. Eat something hot. Have a beer. Listen to some music. Spend some time together before the days get short and another Maine winter settles in.
And when the market winds down at 5:00pm, Harvest Home continues into the evening.
As darkness falls, the Glasshouse becomes the setting for a costume party and nighttime dance amongst the plants. Records will be spinning, drinks will be pouring and the tables will move aside. Come dressed up, stay late and help us turn the greenhouse into a dance floor for the night.
Harvest Home is, at heart, a very old and very simple idea: bring in what the land has given you, gather neighbors around you, eat and drink well, and mark the end of another growing season together.
Come for the market. Stay for the feast.
