About the event
Prahlada and Narisimha - 'The Unshakeable Heart'
A Yoga & Myth Workshop on the true love that stays.
We begin the year not with resolutions, but with a love story — though not the kind you might expect. This one, from the vast Yoga Vasistha, is about the love that stays.
Queen Chudala and King Sikhidhvaja rule side by side, until Chudala quietly awakens — to a peace and wisdom so complete that, the story says, she seemed to have hidden wings. Her husband cannot see what she has become; restless for the very peace standing beside him, he abandons his throne for the forest. Chudala doesn't argue, and she doesn't follow in tears. For years, she visits him disguised as a young sage, patiently teaching the husband who never recognises her, until at last he finds his own freedom — and she reveals who his teacher was all along. He finally sees her. And they return home together, equals in love and in wisdom.
About the series: Myth to Mat is Inner Lifetime's workshop series bringing Hindu mythology to the mat — and its ancient lessons into daily life. Each workshop opens a different story from a rich and beautiful tradition, as an invitation to open our minds, reflect, and learn from cultures and ideas beyond our own.
What to expect across our two hours together: an opening circle where the story is told and its symbolism unpacked; guided journaling on the love in your life that stays (this can be non romantic)— and on being truly seen; a slow, tender practice of yin-inspired holds and heart-openers, unhurried as Chudala herself; a guided meditation on patience and quiet knowing; and a gentle closing circle to set an intention for the year ahead. Come as you are; leave a little more seen.
No experience needed. You don't need to know a single thing about yoga or mythology, and you don't have to believe anything — just try the story on and see what it shows you. All bodies, all levels, all humans welcome.
What to bring: a journal or paper (materials provided if you forget), comfortable clothes for movement and rest, and a water bottle.
Optional preparation: come with no prior awareness at all, or download the Nidrana app and listen to 'Chudala's Hidden Wings' beforehand if you like to arrive with the story already in your bones.
Investment: £28. (The £89 full-season pass, covering all four Myth to Mat stories at a 20% saving, is available only until Story One begins on 16 August.)
Arrival: please arrive 10 minutes early to settle in — the Coffee Hub will be open from 10:30am if you'd like a drink before we begin. We start promptly.
