Come find the secrets the candlelight is hiding. Who's behind the mask? The pews go dark, but for flickering candles, and for one night, The Union Baptist becomes somewhere else entirely, a room built for whispers, sideways glances, and music that doesn't say what it means. Join the Mystic Chamber Music Series on December 5th at 5:30 PM at the Union Baptist Church for “ The Masquerade Ball”, a concert that reveals the secrets hidden in some of the most beautiful music. Haydn opens with a trick: a quartet that lies to your face, false endings laid like tripwires, daring you to clap too soon. By the time the candles burn lowest, the last mask comes off: Tchaikovsky, writing in yearning too raw to fully disguise, even from himself. Some things can only be said from behind a mask. Stay until the lights go out to find out what's underneath.
