13 years ago on this month, Muzikstan was born! How far we have come since those early days!For this months event, we will also be celebrating Kurdish new year!
Kurdish New Year, known as Newroz or Nawruz, is celebrated on the 21st of March, marking the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. The name "Newroz" means "new day" in Persian, symbolizing rebirth and fresh beginnings.

Zirak Hamad is a musician, cultural facilitator, and community leader originally from Iraqi Kurdistan, now based in the UK since 2002. With a passion for sharing the rich musical traditions of the Middle East, he has been leading immersive music and dance workshops at festivals, schools, and community centers across the UK.
As the founder and leader of Daholl Kurdish Band, Zirak blends traditional Kurdish and Middle Eastern sounds with contemporary influences, creating an energetic and dynamic musical experience. In 2012, he established Muzikstan in Birmingham—a vibrant event series designed to provide a platform for artists to showcase their cultures and talents, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and artistic collaboration.
Through his work, Zirak continues to inspire and connect communities, celebrating diversity through the universal language of music.
🎸SHANKARA ANDY BOLE 🐫
We are delighted to welcome back one of Muzikstans favourites Shankara Andy Bole. Andy is a unique explorer of sound whose artistic journey blends diverse cultural influences, his intricate understanding of Arabic (scales) and Indian ragas allows him to create a unique soundscape that transcends geographical boundaries.
With the blending of these influences, combined with the deep meditative qualities of his music he creates an immersive experience that connects with the listener's inner world.
The event runs from 7-10pm, and the music kicks off at 7.30pm!
