Join Muslim Women Connect for a special skill-sharing session in collaboration with Nakshi Stitch, a grassroots social enterprise supporting women artisans in Bangladesh through the traditional art of Kantha embroidery.
Spend a relaxed and creative afternoon learning about the beautiful craft of Nakshi Kantha and trying some of the traditional stitching techniques used to create these intricate textiles.
Nakshi Kantha has been practised for generations by women across rural Bangladesh, transforming layers of cloth into richly embroidered pieces filled with patterns, memories and stories. Traditionally created within families and passed down from one generation to the next, each Kantha carries something of the woman who made it.
During the workshop, you will:
- Explore the history and cultural significance of Nakshi Kantha
- Learn simple hand-stitching and embroidery techniques
- Enjoy a welcoming space to relax, create and connect with other women
No previous sewing or embroidery experience is needed. Whether you’re interested in craft, culture and heritage, or simply looking for a calming and creative way to spend an afternoon, everyone is welcome.

Nakshi Stitch is a non-profit social enterprise empowering women in Bangladesh through the traditional art of Nakshi Kantha embroidery. Each stitched piece tells a personal story, offering a source of income, self-expression, and community. Profits support artisans directly and help fund education for their children, tackling poverty and child labour.
