Patricia Caicedo presents Beyond Center and Periphery: Latin American Art Song and the Decolonization of the Classical Vocal Canon. What can art song reveal about how nations imagine themselves? Through rarely heard works by Latin American composers and poets, this lecture traces how songs became mirrors of identity, history, and cultural change. It offers context, listening tools, and performance insights needed to bring this repertoire into today’s vocal canon.
