Our first program of the season, Water Dances, features Schwob professor, Dr. Anne-Marie Cherry, performing a work for solo horn and electronics called Visions for Horn and Fixed Media by James Naigus, a work that is contemplative and stunningly beautiful. Next is Ravel’s Jeux d’eau by French impressionist Maurice Ravel. This is a piece that features dazzling piano virtuosity and is about water in a fountain and it’s colors, sprays, and life, and performed by Schwob graduate student pianist, Yaoning Zhou. This will be followed by marimbist Sebastian Ocando, another Schwob graduate student, who will perform an arrangement of four pieces from Debussy’s Children’s Corner, a lovely, playful work meant for the child in each of us. We will conclude the program with Alberto Ginastera’s powerful and exotic Dances Argentinas in the incredible hands of Schwob undergraduate pianist, Benjamin Badgett. A fun program full of dance and color! Designs offered by the incredible Lance Tankersley, director of the Omnisphere Theatre.Reception at 5 pm with wine and cheese, and 45-minute concert at 5:37pm!
Online tickets are now on sale for all of our shows including the season pass. Once they sell out online, we will have 14 to sell at the door at 5pm on the day of the event.
