Our fourth performance of the season, titled Colors of the Kaleidoscope will literally surround the audience with sound under beautiful designs. We start with the Schwob Flute Choir, under the direction of Dr. Andree Martin performing Gay Kahkonen’s Whirl for Flutes, set up around the audience. Next, and also surrounding our audience, will be the Schwob Singers, under the direction of Dr. David Hahn. They will be performing a set of three songs including two byMorten Lauridsen, his Lament for Pasihae and Intercession for Late October, as well as Eric Whitacre’s stunning beautiful Sleep. We’ll conclude this performance with a tour de force, presented by Schwob Concerto Competition winner, pianist Jerry Jiarui Zhang, who will play Scriabin’s fiendishly difficult Sonata No. 5, a whirlwind of colors, written by a composer who had synesthesia.
Reception at 5 pm with wine and cheese, and a 45-minute concert at 5:37 pm!
