About this Event
Got ideas in your head but no idea how to turn them into a track? Join Calgary artist and producer Jamie Rose for a relaxed, hands-on look at how she builds songs from scratch in Ableton Live. Jamie will open up her own sessions and show how she goes from a first idea to a full track: starting a beat, writing chords and melodies, playing with sounds, and arranging it all into a song. Along the way she’ll talk honestly about being a woman producing music, carving out space in the studio and the booth, and backing yourself in a scene that doesn’t always make room for you.
Bring a laptop with Ableton (the free trial works) to follow along, or sit back and watch her screen on the projector. Beginners are welcome, and there’ll be time at the end for questions.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.
This program is graciously funded by the City of Calgary, Calgary Arts Development, and Calgary Foundation.
