Music Lab: Discover, Play & Create!
Four Saturdays. Endless musical possibilities!
Does your child love music, enjoy experimenting with sounds, or show curiosity about learning an instrument?
Music Lab is a four-week, hands-on musical experience where children ages 7–10 explore the building blocks of music through creativity, discovery, and play.
Rather than beginning with traditional lessons and repetitive exercises, we invite children to experience music firsthand. They'll discover how rhythm works, explore the keyboard, listen, experiment, and begin creating musical ideas of their own.
What will children explore?
- Rhythm and musical patterns
- Keyboard fundamentals
- Listening and musical expression
- Notes and basic musical notation
- Creative activities, games, and composition
- Making music together
No previous musical experience is necessary. Curiosity is enough!

About the Instructor
April Thomas is a musician, educator, and instructional designer with a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music, where she studied Jazz Composition and Film Scoring.
Her teaching experience includes private music instruction in students' homes and teaching at Chestnut Hill School for Music in Massachusetts. Beyond music, she has designed and facilitated educational programs in areas including pickleball and diversity training.
Drawing on her background in music, teaching, and instructional design, April created Music Lab to give children a fun, engaging way to explore musical concepts, develop skills, and discover their own creativity.
Her approach emphasizes learning through experience, curiosity, and active participation rather than simply memorizing notes or reproducing music.
