A 2025 Strathmore Artists in Residence alum, violinist Maximilian Jacobs presents his exciting, genre-defying work, Chamber Symphony for Jazz Octet, seamlessly weaving the freedom of improvisation with the romantic voices of classical strings. A classically trained musician turned jazz innovator, Jacobs pairs traditional technique with fearless spontaneity in his four-movement work, pulling inspiration from tunes by Benny Goodman, klezmer freylekhs, and traditional Minuet and Trio forms. Drawing on influences from swing to Romani traditions, his music is rich with texture, rhythm, and emotional depth.
