About this Event
Did you know plants and fungi ‘create’ music? Brian d'Souza (aka DJ Auntie Flo) has been experimenting with making music from plants and fungi for the past five years. Using plant biodata to trigger notes on a specially built modular synthesizer in a process called ‘bionsonification’, DJ Auntie Flo will intrigue audiences with a live demonstration of plant- and mushroom-generated music with the intention of crossing the boundaries between the more-than-human fungal world and electronic music realm.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 5-14 November 2026. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
