About this Event
This stunning new addition to the streetscape at Bloor Street and Avenue Road is an expression of our commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action towards restoring right relations with our Indigenous Neighbours.
Artist Donald Chretien, a member of Nipissing First Nation, has based the mural on traditional beadwork, devising a striking fusion of traditional beadwork with digital technology which celebrates living in balance with the land and water. This mural calls us toward accountability, justice and renewed relationships grounded in dignity and respect.
The mural flows along the west side of the Church, honouring the traditional floral patterns inspired by Métis and First Nations beadwork art. The mural is a lasting testament to Redeemer’s commitment to reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis people.
Along the journey towards planning this mural you have contributed thoughts, time and resources and we would be honoured to have you with us for the dedication ceremony. Come out and enjoy First Nations drumming, singing and the wisdom of elders. Refreshments will also be served.
